Tues, June 17 – TUESDAY TECH TIP: Make sure you’re on the old Outlook

With the transition to the new Windows, some of us have noticed that Outlook looks a little… different. That’s because the new version of Outlook might have automatically replaced the old one. The problem? The new Outlook doesn’t have task bars, and that’s not the DyTerra way.

For now, we’ll continue using the old version of Outlook until we have a better plan in place. Don’t worry, we’ve got time to sort it out. At the top right of your Outlook window, you’ll see a toggle that says “New Outlook”. If it’s on, just click to turn it off, and you’ll return to the old version. You can toggle between them, but for now, stick with the old.

Monday, June 16 - Welcome, Rex!

Today, we’re excited to welcome Rex Harwood to the team as our new Alberta Sales Representative! While Rex will primarily work from home, he’ll focus on growing sales across Western Canada. He’s kicking off his first day with training in Saskatoon alongside Pat and the rest of the team. Please join us in giving Rex a warm welcome, great to have you on board!

Fri, June 13 – Happy Birthday, Jon!

Happy birthday to Jon, our shipper and receiver in MB! He’s been working hard, keeping our warehouse and orders moving, and occasionally busting out some sick solos to the radio. Don’t work too hard today, Jon, or you might bust a muscle instead!

Thurs, June 12 – Quiet day at the MB Office

It’s been a little quiet around the Manitoba office today. With most of the team away at the conference and another on vacation, there are no sales reps or engineers on the floor. If you need assistance with anything sales-related, please contact Pat.

Thankfully, Karie stopped by to give the office a much-needed boost of energy!

Mon, June 9 – LEAN Conference This Week

The LEAN Conference kicks off today at the RBC Convention Centre in Winnipeg, running from June 9 to 12. Nearly 1,000 industry leaders from across Canada will gather over four days to share ideas, innovations, and strategies. Karie will be joining the rest of the team as well for this event. We’re excited to hear what they take away from the whole thing!

Fri, June 6 – Petrov’s last day

We’ve always heard of Petrov being fashionably late, but I guess he decided to take it to a new level. Today marks Michael’s last day with DyTerra, and while we’re losing a teammate, we’re also bidding farewell to our resident jester (and occasional chaos coordinator). We hope that wherever his journey takes him next, it welcomes him with the same bright smile he always wears here. We’ll miss you, Petrov—some of us more than we’ll admit. (Looking at you, Levi.)

Tues, June 3 – TUESDAY TECH TIP: When in Doubt, Restart It Out

Is Outlook acting weird? Emails not syncing? Computer running slow? Before contacting IT, try this first:
Restart your computer. Seriously, many tech hiccups (especially with Microsoft systems) clear up with a quick reboot. And don’t forget, if you’ve changed settings, updated software, or installed something new, a restart helps it take effect. A reboot a day keeps the tech team away (just kidding—but it does help more than you think)!

Mon, June 2 - Brian is away

Looking for Brian? Don’t worry—he’s just wrenching up some time in Calgary and will be back next week! In the meantime, if you need anything or have service-related questions, Jared is stepping in to keep things running smoothly at Brian’s station.

Fri, May 30 - Jeremy’s last day:

Today, we say goodbye to Jeremy as he wraps up his time with DyTerra. While it’s hard to see him go, rural life is calling, and we know he’s going to thrive in this next adventure. Jeremy, thank you for everything you’ve brought to DyTerra. Your hard work, energy, and dedication have left a mark, and you’ll definitely be missed around here.

Best of luck, and don’t be a stranger!

Wed, May 28 – Reminder: Update your computers to Windows 11

Is your computer running slow? Stuff not loading up properly. That means it could be time for an update. Lucky for us, our new IT manager, Ricardo, is ready to help. For those who have gotten Ricardo’s email regarding the updates, make sure to schedule your upgrade before the June 30th deadline. Email Ricardo at rbaldo@diversco.com for more information and questions.

Fri, May 23 – The MC165

Our first batch of MicroCote 165s has officially sold! Named for its 165L tank capacity, the MC165 is an upgraded version of the MCmini. It now includes the option to add a scale. You’ll be seeing more of these units being built in the shop soon! The first model was showcased at both trade shows this past winter, and we’re excited to now have them available for order.

Thurs, May 22 – Congratulations, Jeremy and Erin!

Just yesterday, Jeremy and his wife welcomed a new baby boy into the world. Welcome Bennet! We’re hoping he goes easy on his dad as he navigates both a new job and new parenthood. Wishing Jeremy and his growing family all the very best!

Wed, May 21 – Congrats, Karie!

We’re excited to share some great news out of Saskatchewan! Yesterday’s announcement highlighted a recent shift in the team, and we want to give a big congratulations to Karie on her promotion to Parts & Equipment Manager.

This spring brings change, and with it, opportunity. We’re confident this new chapter will bring great things for Karie and the SK team!

Fri, May 16 – Long Weekend & Birthday Wishes

The long weekend is almost here, which means no work on Monday! We’re also celebrating a birthday—Michael Braun will be ringing in his special day on Sunday over the long weekend.

Happy birthday, Michael, and happy long weekend to everyone! See you all on Tuesday.

Thurs, May 15 – Pat in SK tomorrow

Pat won’t be in his usual office on Friday. With an impromptu visit, he will be in Saskatoon tomorrow visiting the SK building! He’ll most likely be in meetings, but if anyone is looking for him, that’s where he’ll be!

Tues, May 13 - Happy birthday, Jim!

Wishing our metalhead, guitar-shredding service tech a fantastic birthday! Your passion for heavy riffs and hard work never goes unnoticed. Hope your day is filled with epic solos, good vibes, and some serious rock and roll.

Fri, May 9 - New Home Page!

Our website just got a fresh update—starting with the home page! We’ve made it more accessible, user-friendly, and visually appealing with updated imagery, streamlined information, and an improved layout. Take a look and see what’s new!

Thurs, May 8 – Happy Birthday, Karie!

Happy Birthday to Karie—our corporate operations rockstar and all-around super mom! Whether you're keeping things running smoothly at DyTerra or juggling life with your girls, you do it all with a smile. Your dedication doesn't go unnoticed, and we hope today brings you all the joy (and maybe a little quiet time) you deserve. Have the best day—Happy birthday!

Wed, May 7 – Happy Birthday, Syrah!

Sending the best birthday wishes to our wonderful and talented Marketing Coordinator!
Syrah has been the creative backbone of DyTerra since she began her journey back in January 2024. She’s handled everything from our social media pages to our celebratory events — all with a contagiously positive attitude!

Whether she’s dominating at Uno, geeking out about D&D, or ranting about how AI “art” isn’t real art, she’s an absolute riot. And if you ever catch her talking out loud to herself (even when no one’s around), just know — she’s not insane, she’s just Syrah. Happy birthday!

Fri, May 2 - Happy birthday tomorrow, Levi!

Wishing a fantastic birthday tomorrow to one of our fearless Project Coordinators and EITs. Levi’s dedication to tacos, obsession with heat (including that infamous spicy chicken burger challenge called ‘The Waiver’), and wild dream stories never fail to keep things interesting around the MB office. Here’s to a year full of big ideas, bold flavours, and maybe just a little less mouth-on-fire madness!

Tues, April 29 – Tech Tip: Humi Calendars

You might notice a few people missing today — Andy in MB will be away until Thursday, and Lauren in SK is off today. If you’re ever wondering where someone is when they’re not in, feel free to check Humi! Outlook calendars can take a bit to update, so Humi is a great way to quickly double-check who’s around.

Fri, April 25 - Tammy’s last day :(

It is a sad day today for most of us… Tammy is finally free! Well, retired more like it. Today marks Tammy’s last day with us, and we want to thank her for the incredible impact she’s had on this company. From her dedication to continuous improvement to leading our LEAN initiatives, Tammy has helped shape DyTerra into what it is today.

Tammy, please do not be a stranger. You are welcome here anytime! Plus, we would love to hear more about your month-long trip you’ll be taking starting next week as your first retired bucketlist item.

For all of us being left behind at DyTerra, there is a Tammy cheat sheet that was sent out not too long ago. Feel free to reference that if ever you do not know who is in charge of what now.

Farewell Tammy! Wish you all the best.

Thurs, April 24 – Organizational Chart Changes

With our VP's upcoming farewell, along with new roles and recent hires, there have been some updates to our organizational chart. If you ever need to view it, just go to COMPANY > and under OUR STRUCTURE > click Organizational Chart.

Mon, April 21 - Pat is gone

Pat has disappeared, and with an overwhelming number of people not knowing his whereabouts, it’s hard to say where he is. Not to worry! You can always check the Events & Training calendar on Outlook in case this ever happens. Pat will be in Ontario for the time being until his return on Wednesday!

Thurs, April 17 – Easter Weekend!

Although 4:30 pm Fridays are no more, the month of April is kind enough to give us just one good Friday. Tomorrow is Good Friday and the start of the Easter weekend. All our offices will be closed, so get some rest – you all deserve it!

Wed, April 16 – Tammy’s schedule for next week

Next week is Tammy’s final week before retirement! She’ll be in Saskatchewan on Monday and Tuesday, then wrapping up her final visits in Manitoba from Wednesday to Friday.

This is your last chance to wish her farewell before she officially retires—though she may pop in to help out here and there in the fall, so it might not be goodbye forever!

Fri, April 11 - Jared in PEI

Our Operations Manager, Jared, is heading out east this Sunday to PEI for a little field trip! He’ll be assisting in New Annan with the commissioning of a liquid pump skid. While there, he'll ensure everything is functioning properly, including calibrating and certifying the meter. Jared is expected back on Thursday. In the meantime, please direct any Jared-related questions to Brian.

MB will be seeing a familiar face next week. Tammy will be stopping by the MB office for a quick visit on Monday at 2:30 PM and will stay until Wednesday at 11:00 AM. The main purpose of her trip is to meet with Andy and Pat, but don’t be afraid to say a quick hi!

Tues, Mar 25 - Tech Tip: Custom Meeting Times in Outlook & Teams

When scheduling meetings in Outlook or Microsoft Teams, you don’t have to stick to the default 30-minute increments from the dropdown menu! If you want a meeting to start at 15 or 45 minutes past the hour, you can manually type in the time instead. Here’s how: In both Outlook Calendar and Teams Calendar:

  • Open your Calendar and click New Meeting

  • In the Start time and End time fields, click inside the box and type your desired time

  • Click Save & Send

Hope this helps to make your meetings more scheduled and efficient!

Mon, Feb 5 – JOB BINDER KAIZEN

On December 5, Pat, Mike P and Michael held in a Kaizen to improve the use of the yellow job binders. It has been confusing – really for our manufacturing jobs in MB - as the binders have no particular place to be and the status of each binder is unknown. We decided to use a simple visual indicator so the status of the job can be known at a glance. The binders are now in a central location, the job numbers have been moved to the spine of the binders and either a Red (Project is in progress but not all the parts are here yet) or Green (All items have been picked and the project is good to proceed) flag is inserted in the spine so you know at a glance the status of the job!

This will give them a certificate to inspect/test tanks for the next 3 years.

Mon, Jan 29 - EMPloyee handbook changes

If you look at the Employee Handbook on the portal, you’ll notice a slight change on some of the pages. All words with “Courtney” have now been replaced with “HR”. Moving forward, some of Diversco’s team will manage larger parts of our HR and IT.

It’s Bradley’s last day. Thanks for your time with us and we wish you well in your career. All the best from all of us at DyTerra.

WED, Jan 17 - SHOP DRAWINGS KAIZEN

On December 14, the Engineering team and Jim McGillvray held a Kaizen to standardize and simplify Shop Drawings. The Kaizen helped to identify several opportunities to improve communication through drawings for the manufacturing process. The next step is creating a simple drawing template that is followed every time, reducing frustrations, and bringing consistency to all drawings.

TUES, JAN 9 – TUESDAY TIPS: COMMUNICATION

If you need to reach someone but aren’t sure when they will be available, it’s a great idea to pop into Outlook and check their calendar or drop them a quick Teams chat to see if they’re free.
How do you check their calendar? Go to your calendar in Outlook. If they aren’t already showing for you, right-click “My Calendars”, click “Add Calendar” -> “Open Shared Calendar.” Start typing their name and hit OK. Tada!

WED, JAN 3 – QC KAIZEN

On November 9, Pat, Bianca, Lauren, Brian and Joaquin held in a Kaizen to review the Repair Package Process from the point of view of the Service Manager. Our goal was to simplify the process, identify and remove waste and speed up the time from start to finish. Lauren Klein, call on 1213! Happy birthday to our SK Branch Admin, Lauren who does a whirlwind of items from SmartDox to front desk to QC to all things service admin and more. Thanks for everything – have your cake and eat it too.

TUES, DEC 12 – TUESDAY TIPS: COMMUNICATION

Office staff – remember to communicate well when you will be on vacation! One important passive communication step is to put it on your calendar! This helps us not book you for meetings while on vacation and lets people know you are out.

TITLE: Vacation

SHOW AS: Out of Office

TUES, NOV 21 – TUESDAY TIPS: COMMUNICATION

Can your email BE any clearer? Take some time each time you send an important email to pause, re-read and make sure it’s clear to the sender. Can you make it shorter – maybe some heading to make it easier to read? Or does it need to be longer and have more info? Also, does it need a follow-up call to check in and ensure everyone’s on the same page?

MON, NOV 20 – SOCIAL MEDIA UPDATE

A big kudos to the team who’s helping keep our social media going while we are without a marketing person. Well done, James, Jeremy, Lauren, and Kody. Some great writing, creativity, and ideas out of this group. Merci!

There is no work on Monday. Take a few moments to remember those who fought for our freedom - then enjoy your long weekend.

When using equipment to clear snow, make sure you’re aware of all obstacles under the snow. If you are unsure, exit the equipment and check for items buried in the snow to avoid hitting anything. Stay safe this winter!

WED. NOV 8 – A KAIZEN SUCCESS

A couple weeks ago, Pat, Joaquin, Mike Pruden and Jon participated in a Kaizen to rehab the MB warehouse-to-shop staging area. The previous layout did not allow for us to have access to the pallet racking with our forklift. We created some new spots for the parts crates and moved things around; now we can use the forklift in this area. The new layout is much more efficient and was well received by all involved!

TUES, NOV 7 - TUESDAY TIPS: COMMUNICATION

Should I email, drop by in person, pick up the phone or send a Teams message? When you’re about to communicate, think about what the best method is depending on a) your message and b) who you’re communicating with.

TUES, OCTOBER 31 - Halloween!

Happy Halloween! Hope your Halloween is a real scream this year.

TUES, OCTOBER 31 - TUESDAY TIPS: COMMUNICATION

A quick tip for smoother email communication. Keep it clear and concise! When you're sending messages, try to:

  • Get to the point right away.

  • Use bullet points for important parts.

  • Keep your paragraphs short and sweet

This way, your recipients will find it a breeze to understand your message and get back to you faster.

THURS, OCT 26 – SAFETY COMMITTEE

The Safety Committee met yesterday (Oct 25th) and had great discussions! If you are wondering what they covered, the meeting minutes will be posted on the Safety Bulletin Board.

Joaquin’s in Lean Yellow Belt training today and tomorrow. He’ll watch emails on breaks, but you will be best to catch him on Friday when he is back in the office.

TUES, OCTOBER 24 - TUESDAY TIPS: COMMUNICATION

Listening is an important part of communication. When someone’s talking, it’s important to listen to the full story - and give the benefit of the doubt. When reading an email, ensure you read and reply to the WHOLE email, not just a part. It’ll help make conversations efficient, clear, and quick.

THURS, OCTOBER 19 – 25% COST SAVINGS!

We used to outsource the fabrication of MicroCote tanks but instead brought these in-house a while back. When we did so, we immediately saw a cost saving. Recently, however, we took this a step further to work on design changes that gave us the best utilization of sheets of steel. Today, we are thrilled to report that we are now building these tanks for 100s of dollars less - a 25% cost savings per tank. This is just another great example of Lean thinking and principles… and our commitment to Continuous Improvement. Kudos to the team who made this happen!

TUES, OCTOBER 17 - TUESDAY TIPS: COMMUNICATION

Need a quick or urgent answer from a coworker? While emails are often our go-to, don’t forget the effectiveness of a simple phone call. Ditch the email delay and consider making a quick phone call or a Teams video chat for a speedy resolution!

MON, OCTOBER 16 – HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Happy birthday, Courtney! From reading thousands of resumes and interviewing almost as many to helping with IT, events, phones, NSC, social media, and much more, you’re always happy to help out with a big smile. Thank you for living our Positive culture and we hope you have all the cake tonight!

FRI, OCTOBER 13 - NEW HIRE: MOSES

We’ve hired a Marketing Coordinator! Moses Ogbe joins us on Friday, October 20. He comes to us with experience in print and digital marketing, promo materials, tradeshows, coordinator, social media and more. Please welcome him next Friday. (If you have anything you will need from him in the first while, please let Tammy know.)

THURS, OCTOBER 12 – LEANING OUT FOLDERS

We all know how overwhelming it can be to go into a folder that’s had a lot of hands in it to try to find something. Michael Petrov recently tackled the task of leaning out the R&D / MicroCote folder with some great results. There were a lot of duplicates as well as customer-specific files that didn’t belong here. He also removed obsolete folders as they had been replaced with new more current files. The results?

  • 665 folders before / 245 folders now

  • 3,219 individual files before / 939 files now

  • 3.66 GB before / 1.94 GB now

This is a massive change and will make it easier for anyone trying to find information. Thanks, Michael, for practicing Lean thinking to get this folder in order for everyone!

WED, OCTOBER 11 – HOSTING REDHEAD EQUIP

We’re happy to host four people from Redhead Equipment at the Saskatoon branch today. They’re here for a meeting with Mark, Marlin and Jeremy about some future business.

TUES, OCTOBER 10 - TUESDAY TIPS: COMMUNICATION

Have a file or document you need to send to a coworker? A friendly reminder to only send files by email (or direct your coworker to where it’s saved on the Z-Drive!). This makes it easier to find again later. You may have noticed that you can send files over Teams chat – we kindly ask everyone not to use this feature.

THURS, OCTOBER 5 – WHO YA GONNA CALL?

Patti’s leaving soon! Who do I call if I need her before we have a new person in place? Click here for the full list.

Watch for an email and the logo unveiling from Tammy soon and updates to all our products and materials.
